Emerging Trends Seen at Cersaie 2019

Oct 30, 2019

Cersaie is one of the biggest international trade shows of the ceramic tile market.  For an entire week the most prominent international professionals, architects and interior designers come together to explore the latest innovations and trends in ceramic tile.

As the number one European tile producer and a powerhouse in tile exports, Spain is a regular participant at Cersaie. The designs  Spanish companies display during the show are closely followed and set the tone for trends  seen throughout the world.

This year over one hundred manufacturers from Spain presented their new collections in a preview of what’s to come in 2020.

 The Classics are Renewed

Ceramic tile materials inspired by nature such as marble have been updated to reflect the modern aesthetic of 2020.  Ceramic floor and wall tiles achieved a touch of elegance and sophistication, in large format pieces. The big formats resembling luxurious marble can be paired with different style tiles for a one-of-a kind look.

Experimenting with Wood

Heedless to the passing of time, wood never goes out of style.  Advancements in tile manufacturing have allowed producers to closely mimic the warmth and style of natural wood even better than before. The mixture of different sizes, shapes, patterns and hues opens a door to new designs, in indoor and outdoor spaces.

Playing with Patterns and Graphics

Ceramic wall tiles with graphic designs continue to be a popular trend for 2020.  More prominent are geometric patterns represented by micro-reliefs or in full color, which go well together with plain color finishes, bringing about spaces that are original and stand out.

Graphics featuring floral and jungle patters will also come out to play. They break through the strict functionality of the floor and wall tiles, turning surfaces in true works of art.

Industrial Indoors

In 2020 we will see large format ceramic and wall tiles inspired by cement and stone. The industrial look offers limitless possibilities and adapts to diverse decorative styles.  One option is to coverfloors and walls in the same  material, making spaces look larger than they really are.

Bursts of Color

In order to balance the popularity of the industrial look, 2020 will also see the reemergence of color in the form of small format tile. The most prominent hues are blues, pinks, yellows and earthy tones, perfect for very creative spaces and to add decorative dimension to any room.
